The photographer discovered a family of mice in his garden and built a mini-village for them.

Recently, photographer Simon Dell stumbled upon a family of mice scurrying around his garden. However, instead of going for traps, he took out his tools and built a miniature village for rodents. And they, in gratitude for this, wonderfully posed for the photo shoot.

Dell says that when he saw the first mouse, he decided to treat it with peanuts. But the little animal seemed to him so charming that the matter was not limited to peanuts.

“It was at that moment that I thought I would give her a little shelter and a safe place where she could hide and eat.”- says the photographer.

“I had little experience in photographing wildlife and mice, because I used to have a mouse in the garden shed. It came out only after dark.”.

"In our garden you can meet different representatives of wildlife. Many species of birds - starlings, sparrows, blackbirds, robins and others. There was even a gray heron that stole most of the goldfish from my pond.".

"We have a fox who comes to visit us every night, as well as many hedgehogs and squirrels.".

"At first there was only one mouse. He had a cut on his ear, and we called him George. I dumped small boxes around the box, which became the house for the mouse, and covered it all with moss and straw to provide George with a little shelter.".

"I saw cats sitting a few steps on the other side of the fence, so George’s mountain of logs also came in handy for safety.".

“After a couple of days, I realized that more than one mouse lives inside a log pile. I did not have to wait long for both to go out for a treat”.

“I decided to build a house for them, because I wanted to give them a safe place in the garden where they would not be victims of cats or other animals. As a wildlife photographer, I wanted to create a beautiful home where I could take good photos.”.

"I arranged more space and prepared a home for the cold winter. I ended up counting about 5 mice, and a female named Mildred looks very pregnant, so we're waiting for a big addition by Christmas.".
